Toshiba ZX900

Toshiba have commenced their approach to 3D TVs with the launch of the stylish new ZX900 Cell TV.

The TV comes in two sizes – 65 inch (65ZX900) and 55 inch (55ZX900). As can be expected from one of the global electronic giants Toshiba manages to pack their 3D Tvs with a range of technology that enhances your viewing pleasure.

65ZX900

Firstly let us explain about Toshiba’s new cell processor. Basically the ZX900 is powered by multiple eight-core cell processors currently used in high-end supercomputers, ensuring you’ll make the most of 3D and gaming content.

Colours, contrast and picture

You can expect bright and vibrant colours from the ZX900 as the TV uses technology such as Autoview RGB and KIRA 2 backlighting to ensure that blacks are black and images are sharp. The TV also boasts a dynamic contrast ratio of 9,000,000:1!

The ZX900 comes with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 which means over 5 million more pixels than a regular 1080p HDTV. There will be a refresh rate of 480Hz which uses the scanning backlight method to double the screen refresh rate. Finally unlike other 3D TV’s the ZX900 Cell TV does not use edge-lit LED backlighting, but instead uses 512 LED zones for backlighting

3D technology

The ZX900 is 3D ready and like other 3D Tvs will require the use of active shutter glasses and frame-sequential display methods to deliver 3D content. However unlike other TVs the 480Hz refresh rate and powerful processing will mean the TV will cope extremely well with 3D movies and gaming.
In addition the 3D TV will feature Trivector 2D to 3D conversion technology resulting in the ability to convert 2D into 3D content.

Connectivity and internet

The 65ZX900 comes a full range of connectivity and internet opportunities. You can connect the TV via WiFi for streaming HD wirelessly. You will also receive an integrated mammoth hard drive (1TB) and a 3D Blu-ray disc player, DLNA digital media server capabilities and a built in camera. As the ZX900 is internet enabled you will be able to stream 3rd party content such as Twitter, Facebook etc.
